Welcome to DARK EMBERS BENEATH SILVERVALE.

The party delved into the dark heart of the abandoned Silver Mine, determined to rescue the kidnapped children. Outside the entrance, they encountered a pair of unsuspecting kobold guards. Using clever illusion magic to mimic the image of a fleeing child, the party lured the guards into a trap and swiftly eliminated them.

Within the mine, the tunnels split into three paths. One was completely blocked by debris, another led into deeper darkness veined with ancient corruption, and the third was coated in spiderwebs and strange warmth. The air grew oppressive.

While scouting ahead, Sonya Sterling discovered patches of shadowy corruption—and heard the whispers of something ancient and watching. Driven by curiosity and connection to nature, she let her mental defenses slip. In that moment, the darkness tasted her soul, filling her with a fear that chilled her to the core. She resisted its grip, but it would remember her.

Following the trail of the kidnappers, the party came upon a communal chamber, guarded by three kobolds and two troglodytes. Glory scouted the approach, and when battle erupted, Claire Bear and Ragner Fellhammer charged in with fearless resolve. After a brutal skirmish, the party emerged victorious—and found all of the kidnapped children except one: Bryon Craver.

Among the rescued was a mysterious Goliath sorcerer named Chaos, held captive by the slavers. From the frightened children, the party learned that Bryon had been taken deeper by the Dragonborn leader.

The group followed the trail to a cracked section of wall leading into a natural cavern, where they found Varkash Embermaw, the Dragonborn slaver, and Bryon—held hostage by a kobold with a knife to the boy’s throat.

The party tried diplomacy, offering gold to secure Bryon’s release, but Varkash demanded 1,000 gold pieces, refusing to budge. When it became clear he had no intention of letting the boy go, the party sprang into action. They killed the kobold—but not fast enough. Bryon was stabbed through the heart.

Sonya, consumed by grief and rage, grappled Varkash as the rest of the party fought with unmatched fury. The slaver broke free after wounding her, but before he could flee, Claire struck him down with a devastating blow.

With his dying breath, Varkash spat a warning:
